Blizzards

It's beginning to look a lot like winter! Snow is in the forecast and there are some reports and models that indicate portions of New York State may get as much as 58 inches of snow.

It's hard to imagine winter when temperatures are in the 90's if not triple digits. But, you need to know that Farmer's Almanac is already looking ahead to the upcoming winter for 2023/2024 and they predict it will include a surprise blizzard for Illinois.

While snow in Michigan during the month of May isn't unheard of, a blizzard in May is a rare occurrence. And 100 years ago this week, southern Michigan got pounded with snow.

According to weather.gov, a record-breaking snowstorm hit Southeast Minnesota and basically just dumped a massive amount of really wet snow.

Nothing compares to the surprise snowstorm that struck Lansing and a large swath of Lower Michigan in May of 1923.

Duluth, Minnesota's winter was one for the record books.

We are going to see some nice weather this weekend and crews in Buffalo are hoping it might melt some of the snow from the Blizzard of 2022.

Last week (Monday, April 3rd, 2023), Casper had a record breaking amount of snowfall. As a matter of fact, it destroyed the previous record that had been standing for forty-one years.

As you read the numbers, below, just keep in mind that it's not done snowing yet.

It's a record that will likely not be broken anytime soon. Casper, Wyoming just exceeded their largest one-day snowfall record and it happened in April. There's video to show what the aftermath is like, too.
