Blizzards

Big Stone County is located in West Central Minnesota. Highway 12 runs through it, and if you've ever taken Highway 12 out to Aberdeen South Dakota stretches of 12 are often long and desolate. The Big Stone County Sheriff's Office recently took to social media to 'explain' why road crews weren't making progress on area roads. The picture that they shared blew my mind. Look at that pile of snow compared to the plow.

You've heard it a thousand times: "The weather wouldn't be so bad here if it wasn't for the wind."

You're gonna need more than a shovel to deal with this if you live in the Utah town that's already had over 500 inches of snow fall and there's more headed their way.

The ice storm that moved through the northern parts of the Midwest took its toll causing thousands to be without power. Another casualty which led to the power outages was the moment the ice storm caused a transformer in Illinois to blow sky high. That moment was captured on video.

There's a positive aspect to the recent historic blizzard that churned across the northern part of America. A bald eagle received a free comfortable blanket of snow as a nest cam video revealed.

A potentially historic blizzard is approaching parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin and the National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Warnings.

The US National Weather Service in Riverton has upgraded the the winter storm warning for Natrona County to a Blizzard Warning, which will be in effect beginning at 5pm Tuesday and will last until 11pm on Wednesday.

"Odds are a ruler won't cut it when measuring this one."

Several roads are closed in west central and northwestern Minnesota due to whiteout conditions.
