Watch: Tornado Obliterates Buildings in South Dakota
This year has been a very busy one for storm chasers and South Dakota has been hit hard by severe weather. One storm chaser shared some amazing and terrifying video of a tornado near Watertown yesterday.
A large and damaging tornado was captured on video by Storm Chaser Brandon Copic as a tornado drew closer to Watertown on Sunday. His video shows a rural area to the northwest of town that was hit hard as the twister crossed a road and did significant damage to buildings.
Here's another perspective of that violent tornado including video of the aftermath.
A meteorologist from the Aberdeen National Weather Service office told the Argus Leader that damage was still being assessed and a rating had not been assigned to the tornado. More damage would be looked at to determine a wind speed and then a rating would be assigned.
There were several other wind damage reports as well as hail reports up to the size of baseballs as the storms moved through. Power lines were also reported to be knocked down by the storm in Watertown.
