It was likely the lowest wind chill ever recorded in American weather history. A New Hampshire mountain was slammed with a wind chill of 108 degrees below zero and there's video to show what those conditions were like.

USA Today was one of the media outlets to confirm that Mt. Washington in New Hampshire recently experienced 97 mph winds that dropped the wind chill to an astonishing -108 degrees.

For the record, any constant wind above 75 mph is considered hurricane force. CBS Boston shared video of what that looked like.

The NY Times says that the -108 wind chill is indeed the coldest wind chill ever recorded. Additional web cams captured the moments the record wind chill happened.

It's worth noting that for winds to be truly "hurricane force", they really do need to be constant and not just gusts. The National Weather Service estimates that a 97 mph wind would do extensive damage if it happened in a city. What happened on Mt. Washington a few days ago would be considered a category 2 hurricane.
