Flooding

The forecast looks wet for Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma with potential flooding on the horizon. Even drought-stricken areas have to stay alert this week.

The bad news: natural disasters are up. By a significant amount.

It was on this day 26 years ago that parts of South Jersey, specifically Atlantic County, received an absolutely incredible amount of rain.

Missouri has needed rain for much of 2023 as much of the state has experienced extreme drought conditions. The good news is that it's rained in Missouri over the past week with some areas seeing up to 10 inches in just a 7 day period.

Many of us have talked about how we need rain in Missouri and Illinois. Perhaps in the future we should be careful what we wish for as 3 different areas were hammered with more than 6 inches of moisture which caused lots of flooding.

There was a major flash flood in Fort Collins, Colorado last night.

Any plans that involve being in these cities toward, or after, 2050 should be reconsidered.

As with all large bodies of water, some crazy things are known to happen. Obviously, in the oceans, lunar movements, and gravitational pull affect the high and low tides. We discussed if this was something that happens with the Great Lakes before.

The massive flooding in Upstate New York washed away roads, bridges, dams and even a boat and Jet Skis still attached to the dock.
