Missouri & Illinois Drenched with More than 6 Inches of Rain
Many of us have talked about how we need rain in Missouri and Illinois. Perhaps in the future we should be careful what we wish for as 3 different areas were hammered with more than 6 inches of moisture which caused lots of flooding.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, there were 3 places hit with more than 6 inches of rain as shown on their graphic. Note that the Salem, Illinois area was one of the places drenched, too.
Vienna, Missouri had golf-ball sized hail along with the rain. Charles Peek of The Weather Channel captured video shared with WAAY-TV on YouTube.
A resident of Farmington, Missouri also shared video of the deluge there last night.
According to Fox 2 out of St. Louis, Gerald, Missouri also recorded more than 4 inches of rain which led to many volunteers being summoned to help those affected with flash flooding.
As we mentioned a few days ago, NOAA's Climate Prediction Center was predicting August would be a wet one for Missouri. So far, they're spot on correct. Let's hope this moisture helps the many drought-affected areas in the state.
