Watch Massive Ice Dam Burst at a Minnesota State Park
All throughout the Upper Midwest this past winter, near record snowfall has created some very unique scenarios.
The one we’re dealing with now that spring has arrived is rapidly melting ice and snow.
That phenomenon was on full display recently at Tettegouche State Park, along the shores of Lake Superior in Northern Minnesota.
It was there, at Illgen Falls, that Minnesota State Parks cameras captured the rupture of an ice dam that had been holding back the Baptism River.
Park officials are calling it the ‘mighty melt’ and warn that the potential for flooding may lead to some closures in the days ahead.
